Between May 9 and August 31, 2011, I’m walking 1 million steps to raise money for RAINN.
With your help, we crushed the original fundraising goal of $1,000. So we had to up the ante. Now we’re going for $1,500.
$1,400 has been raised so far. We’re so close!
I’m due to reach 1 million steps around August 21 (10 days ahead of schedule!). If we can raise $1,500 by then, I will dance to an exceedingly embarrassing song in my celebratory video.
You get to pick which song. Here are the choices:
A) Groove is in the Heart (Deee-Lite)
B) Stayin’ Alive (The Bee Gees)
C) Axel F (Crazy Frog)
Vote your pick by reblogging and commenting - and donate at http://karma411.com/1MSteps to make sure we hit the goal!

I’m halfway to my goal of 1 million steps! OMG!
If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, I’m only asking for $10, one time. Less than a cost of a movie ticket.
Also, there will be a fire-spinning fundraiser July 30 in Ellicott City, Md. Mark your calendars if you’re in the area - more details to come soon.

Between May 9 and August 31, 2011, I’m walking 1 million steps for RAINN.
In this update, I just passed 400,000 steps - 2/5 of the way to my goal!
So far I’ve raised about $350, but my goal is to raise $1,000 by the time the campaign is through.
I couldn’t have come this far, though, without some seriously awesome people, so in this video, I give shout-outs to everyone who’s contributed time and money to the cause so far.

I just passed 300,000 steps - 3/10 of the way to my goal!
This Friday, June 10, we’re having a fundraiser at Piratz Tavern in Silver Spring, Maryland. If you’re in the Washington, D.C. area, come join us for some great live music by Pirates for Sail as well as fabulous belly dancing by Rosie. All the performers’ tips will go toward the cause. Also, if you buy a CD from Pirates for Sail Friday, $4 of every purchase will be donated as well.

I’m asking everybody to donate just $10 to the cause. That may not seem like a lot, but it will pay for 3 phone calls for the National Sexual Assault Hotline that RAINN operates.
If you give $100 or more, I will send you a tote bag.
No, really. I will crochet you a tote bag in your favorite color.
For serious.

Today was a big day for two reasons:
1. I completed 100,000 steps. I’m so excited!
2. Pro-wrestler Mick Foley is awesome. The Huffington Post honored him today for his work with RAINN. It’s so inspiring to read how he got involved with RAINN and why he believes so strongly in their mission.
Also, I just started using my new, more accurate pedometer and am breaking in my new walking shoes (my old ones were shot after 2 1/2 years of wearing them on the elliptical trainer).
Big thanks to my mom and my friend Alison for donating. Even if you can only spare a few dollars, it would mean a lot to RAINN. As little as $10 will pay for three calls to the National Sexual Assault Hotline. And if you can’t spare the cash, please spread the word. A tweet or a Facebook post would mean an awful lot. Thank you!
